Deposit at hotel?

Hi!

Just booked up for 8 nights at the Wall Street Inn in March/April (it seemed to get some good reviews and the price was right, with direct flights from GLA-EWR - thanks everyone for your advice on that one!). The confirmation states that the hotel will charge a $50 per night deposit. Do they mean that they'll take a copy of a credit card or will they require a cash deposit? I'm assuming it's a refundable deposit, otherwise my great deal isn't seeming so great!

Cool, but that'll be refundable, won't it? Simply a back up incase anything happened to the room or skipped out on additional charges to the room?

Just be aware if it is a hold on your acct. that is money you will not be able access until they release it which can take 3-5 business days.

Excellent! Thanks. I was pretty sure it was just the standard deposit thing, but just panicked a little!

It's a hold on that amount of money. It isn't a charge which then has to be refunded. Unless you're very close to your credit card limit you'd never even know about it unless you looked at your account online between the time you checked in and a few days after you checked out.

I'm sure everyone on here is correct, but if you are worried about it and in order to avoid any nasty suprises, wouldn't it be best to email the hotel?

That also gives you the added protection that you have it in writting.
