Fun - Trendy Bar Scene?

Hi -

We're visiting over the weekend in October and I'm looking for recommendations on bars that are fun to hang out - they could be part of a restaurant, a rooftop of a hotel, a boozy dive or the trendiest place in town. We're drinkers so it really doesn't matter, we're just looking for some good atmosphere and an NYC feel. We're staying near Union Square, but location doesn't matter (too much).

Thanks for the help...

I am into live music/ local bands so my recommendations would be;

Bleeker St (between LaGuardia place & 6th ave) is a strip full of different bars in Greenwich Village.

Also www.ohmyrockness.com is a great web site to see different choices on the nights you are here.

For a multi floor club (Thurs-Sat) 11pm - 4am www.websterhall.com is a fun place to dance all night - if you do the club. Thing - make sure you check out the top floor with the balcony - that's where the have the bigger shows.

Have fun!
