I think you should take Queensboro brg then hit FDR drive south, which will take you right to Battery park, w no traffic lights.Edited: 19 September 2013, 19:50
Agree with Vladchan and so does
It will be a more scenic and easier drive. What do you plan to do with the car once you get there??Edited: 19 September 2013, 19:58
This would also be an easy trip on the subway. As one example, take the R from Queens Plaza to Whitehall Street and you'll be right there. There are many other options, though. If you take the subway check for weekend route changes.
looking for a no toll way into Manhattan. It will be early Sunday morning so we were hoping to find a place to park on a side street for a few hours.
If you are concerned about paying tolls, be aware that the driving in on a Sunday is not the problem, it's finding parking. That can cost quite a bit. Browse here for garages, rates and coupons http://nyc.bestparking.com/
Street parking will be challenging. The subway alternative is easy.
no dogs allowed on the subway. We hope to find a place on the street and walk to see the WTC site.
I usually find parking around Barclay Street on Sundays. The earlier, the better.
Is 8 am early enough?
No dogs allowed at the WTC Memorial either.
