Ongoing trip report Night 1

Well our United Flight from London was excellent, over recent years we've flown east and Turkish and Jet airways are not a patch on United.

We arrived at 15.10, 35 minutes ahead of schedule, there were no big queues at immigration or bag claim but didn't get to ny Penn station until 5pm.

Grabbed a taxi to The Refinery, couldn't face fighting through the pedestrian traffic with the bags.

Got into Refinery at 17.15.

What a fantastic hotel, stylish, modern, great service but no pretentiousness.

Nice complementary wine on arrival and efficient check-in.

Then up to an internal suite room, huge room with lovely king bed, great bedding, huge sitting area, two big tv's, iPod dock, just a single wardrobe, but enough for the two of us.

Shower is huge, hot and powerful.....big enough for two. :-)

Walked up to Del Frisko's for dinner at 6.45, great rib eye steak, very generous cocktails.....almost too generous after the wine on a jet lagged body. I only had one, any more and I'd have got rowdy.

Dinner for two, just mains and drink, 163.

Then over to Rockefeller, up to the deck, nice view but a little underwhelmed, perhaps we are spoiled by two many photos and movies that show the view to us on a weekly basis.

(If you followed some of my earlier questions, I got down on one knee and did the proposal, she was thrilled and now sports a decent rock on her finger).

Walk back to Refinery and bed.

Nice quiet nights sleep, no noise except for the occasional door slam from the corridor.

Only tarnish so far, 23 dollars for two coffees from room service, it wasn't quite hot enough but was lovely, but $23!

The view from Top of the Rock is better during the day. Go again. ;) Do the proposal again. ;)
