JFK to times square Hotel with 2 adults 3 kids

We are ariving on a Thursday at 1;30pm to Jfk and want to take the subway to 7th ave e-line. There are 5 of us and we will each have a small carry on bag. How long will it take to get to times square that time of day? We are going to be buying a 7 day metro card and want to use it to and from hotel. Should we just take a Taxi (minivan)?

How old are your children?

If everybody is old enough/able to carry their own luggage, then the subway is your best option. It will take around 40-50 minutes from JFK to Times Square. Depending on the traffic, it could take longer by car.

The cost of the subway from JFK to Times Square would be zero since you have to buy the MetroCard anyway but you must add the cost of the AirTrain and that will be $5.00 per person.

JFK AirTrain to Jamaica and get the E train to 42nd Street (this station is very near Times Square)

The JFK AirTrain is $5.00 per person. The subway will be included with your unlimited ride MetroCard.

There are uniformed staff to assist you at Jamaica.

There are videos on YouTube where you can search "JFK AirTrain" and "Jamaica" and you can see a video of everything - very easy.

Less expensive, faster and safer than a taxi. Train will take under one hour. Taxi may take longer with traffic (and would be more expensive)
