I'm Looking to rent an Apartment for a Month

I'm looking to rent an apartment for a Month, in March 2014.

What's the best site to use to search apartments?

Any recommendations as well?

oakwood.com

do you have a budget in mind?

I would imagine it would have to be north of $7K

Finding a legitimate, legal 1 month rental is not easy. Most buildings don't allow a monthly rental. Oakwood and

https://www.furnishedhousing.com/

Deal with buildings that allow it.

Suttoncourt.com

is a building that allows it.

The Marmara Hotel does monthly rentals.

Great thanks.

Yes i'm interested in sites where its guaranteed to be legit.

Am I too assume its a waste of time searching through Apartment Rentals on Tripadvisor?

Our Burdget is between £3000 and £4000 so I assume thats $4500 to $6000.

And thats for a 2 bed ideally as there's 2 couples.

I could consider Brooklyn or New Jersey . It wouldn't have to be Manhattan.

Most if not all of the apts. listed on TA are priced nightly or weekly and there's no way to determine which are legit and which aren't (IMO). I think your best bet is to deal with a suite hotel like the Marmara who will give you a discount for a monthly rental OR one of the corporate cos. listed above although I don't know if your budget will work for a 2 bedroom for those.

I'm not familiar with the rules and restrictions in New Jersey. You might do better there maybe in Jersey City near a PATH train (like a subway connecting NYC to NJ) but I can't really tell you specific buildings to look at. Brooklyn is part of NYC and the same rules and regs apply there. You might be able to find an apt. in an owner occupied home there that might work.

vrbo.com

is one place to look but it's not really any safer than the listings here on TA.

Would you reccomend using VRBO As long as you pick apartments with plenty of reviews.

No. There is nothing unique about VRBO - the apartments on that site are not vetted for legality just as the ones on AirB&B (and other such sites) are not.

You should try near Westin New York Hotel.

To understand the legal side.

Is it "not illegal" to rent an apartment for 1 month+

Does it only come under issue of "using an apartment as a hotel" if your staying for less than a month.
