NYC + Atlantic city for a stag party? yes or no? help!

I am planning a stag/bachelor party for a group of friends for the end of may 2014.

We are weighing up which trip to go on.

1) new York city (2 nights) + Atlantic city (2 nights)

or 2) 4 nights las vegas.

Now I realise AC is not las vegas.. we have been to vegas 2 or 3 times and never AC, ive read its smaller and doesn't have the wow factor.. its more based on flight times and cost..

would AC be worth while at the end of may, wil it be warm enough for the boardwalk beach bars etc.. wil it be busy and a good atmosphere?

I know vegas will be a great trip, its the long flights with some having to take connections that I worry about, and of course its more exspensive to fly to LV.. although NYC hotels are more than vegas so I don't know if over all costs will differ that much, any opinions/suggestions welcome.

(we will be avoiding Memorial day I believe.. as costs sore also during this period)

thank you in advance.

It depends on what you want out of AC. Gambling yes. Beach, END of May probably yes. Don't expect the same caliber of shows as LV in AC.

Actually you would be better coming around Memorial Day weekend. Hotels in NYC are ironically cheaper than earlier in the month (when there are loads of graduations that fill hotel rooms). You should look at open jaw flights (in one airport and out of another) and use Philadelphia for AC and JFK or EWR for NYC.

Some of the casinos have free buses from NYC to AC and there's regular bus service also if you don't want to drive.

Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer season in Atlantic City. That will be a very busy and very expensive weekend in AC. The beach bars will be open by Memorial Day weekend, but there's no guarantee they will be open much earlier than that. Weather in May can be warm and beautiful, but it's variable. It's not guaranteed good beach weather, and the ocean will be chilly.

Just another thought. Have you thought about maybe New Orleans? We love this city and it has a great many bars to visit, and also has a casino if you want to gamble.Just thought i would throw out another option for you, since Vegas has been done already.

A lot of people find Atlantic City rather sad and tragic. Gambling was introduced in Atlantic City because it was such a deeply impoverished place and the thought was that it would help local people pull themselves up by the bootstraps. What ended up happening was that it provided employment to the surrounding area but left Atlantic City as bad or worse than before.

You walk one block in from the ocean / boardwalk / casinos and you're in a seriously sad (and somewhat dangerous) area.

I find that most people coming to Atlantic City are "bus" passengers. They arrive on buses from far and wide and they're often people who can't afford to be gambling. It is very sad.

Las Vegas is the opposite. Las Vegas is a lot of fun. Very glitzy and feels a bit glam. Las Vegas has great restaurants, shows, entertainment, it is safer and there is much more to see and do.

I just think Atlantic City is so sad!

I enjoy Las Vegas - I don't think they're comparable beyond the gambling aspect. Kind of like comparing Blackpool to Monte Carlo.

I'll second New Orleans if you haven't been.
