The Verve Long Island City - good idea on a budget?

We were given a really helpful tip when booking our accommodation in New York. It seems that staying just out in Long Island City is cheaper and a very short commute. Seems The Verve is a stones throw away from what is a very short subway ride to Manhattan.

Too good to be true or have we hit on a winner? Price is currently showing at around £535 for our five nights.

Ratings look good. We are just looking for somewhere comfortable to sleep and shower with an average budget of around £160 per night from the 18th to 23rd April.

expedia is a safe way to book

I never stayed at the Verve, although it usually gets better reveiws, but I've always opted for the Country Inn & Suites, as I felt it had more subway options ... do check it out for rates, it's a perfectly decent hotel as well and usually cheaper than the VERve

Haven't stayed at the Verve, but have stayed across the street at the Quality Inn twice. Looks fine and gets good reviews. The closest subway station is the 39Ave with N/Q trains, but the others mentioned aren't much further. Try Zante's Diner at the foot of the 39Ave station for breakfast if you tire of the hotel's fare.
