I'm trying to finish up my itinerary for my trip to NY next week. I have one day open that I'm trying to figure out. I have a few things I want to do, but not sure if it will work out. Any help would be much appreciated.
I want to do a food tour of Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist. It starts at 2pm and last for 3 hours. I also want to go to Central Park that day (weather allowing). I'm staying in Times Square. I was thinking of getting up and going to Central Park and then go to 1 museum near by, then head to Chelsea for the tour. Would that work or be too rushed? Too much travel around the city? There is also a Grand Central Terminal tour at from 10-12 that day that appeals to me.
I want to see a variety of NY during my stay. Here is what the rest of my itineary looks like.
Day 1: Get to hotel around 3:00ish. Staying at Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. Check-in and get settled. Probably change clothes and freshen up a bit. Then thought I'd go walk around and find a place to eat. I have tickets to see Wicked that night at 7:00 pm.
Day 2: Dozen Apples Tour 10 - 5:00. Later that night I thought I'd go to Empire State Building. I already have tickets, but can go whenever. If it's raining a lot then might wait and go to ESB another day. If I don't do ESB I thought maybe I could get tickets to another show. Need to find a place to have dinner that night as well.
Day 3: This is the day I need some help
Day 4: Statue of Liberty Crown tickets 10:00 am. Not sure if that means be at the ferry at 10 am or at the SOL? Also do I need to book a ticket to go on the ferry? After SOL I thought maybe going to 9/11 Memorial. I need a ticket for this correct? Are they timed tickets? Other ideas of what I could do after 9/11 Memorial? The Dozen Apple Tour covers Ground Zero, so maybe I won't want to see more of 9/11 Memorial? I don't know. In the evening I have 2 things going on that interfere with each other. I have a photo night tour from 6:00 - 8:30 and tickets to see a concert at 8:00. I booked the concert first but then saw the photo tour which I REALLY want to do. It's the only night during my trip that it's offered. I can't get a refund on the concert ticket, but I'm okay with that. I thought I could maybe go to the concert late. I would be about an hour late. The website to the venue said, they don't give up your seats, so no one would be sitting there anyway.
Day 5: I need a little bit of help on this day too. I have a Brooklyn Bridge & Dumbo tour scheduled from 11:00 - 1:30. I need to decided what I want to do afterwards. The Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist Food Tour is available to do that day as well. It starts at 2:00 though. I didn't know if that would be too stressful to have to get to after Brooklyn Bridge Tour. Like what if tour runs a little later or I want to explore more of Brooklyn on my own? So not sure I want to have a time sensitive activity so close after ending the tour. So not sure what to plan.
Day 6: I fly home at 6:40. Haven't sorted out how I'm getting to airport, but it looks like it will take about 1.5 hours to get there from my hotel. I will have a little time in the morning to do something though. Probably best to stay closer to hotel. Suggestions?
I'm a bit overwhelmed, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are things I want to do that I haven't worked into my schedule.
The Highline (if I do Chelsea Market/Meatpacking Dist tour it includes walking on the Highline)
Museum - Not a huge museum person, but would like to check at least one out.
Grand Central Terminal
Maybe another broadway show one of the evenings
I want quality time in New York over quantity of what I see. This is the first time I've been to New York. I know I will come back to the city and visit more in the future.
