New York to Niagarra Falls idaes please

Hi everybody we are staying in NY for 5 days and would love to see Niagara Falls, we will be flying into the international airport and was wondering if we can fly out to the falls for the day or catch a bus, thinking we could even stay the night if needed and come back to NY the next day.

Any ideas would be great

I booked us on Jetblue out @ 7:30 from JFK for about $110 and back with Delta for $100 departing BUF @ 5:50pm

Definitely stay overnight so you don't have to rush.

With only 5 precious days in the area, flying stands out as the only reasonable option, and it's the only choice frequently recommended on the forum. There are usually good airfares to BUF out of JFK.

If you are flying into JFK, it could make sense to do as you mention and head right to NF for your first day.

When are you doing this trip? If it's not a great time of year for NF, you'll probably have a lot of us trying to talk you out of it :-)

If you can come over to the Canadian side, please do so! There are buses from the airport in Buffalo over to the Canadian side......it's well worth coming across the border if you're going to come to the falls. I hope you're coming in the summer so you can do the Maid of the Mist etc....a bit rip off money wise of course but you get to see the falls close up! Niagara on the Canadian side has lots of gardens etc as well as lots of hokey tourist traps (wax museums etc!). You won't have time for Niagara on the Lake but make time for it next visit as a drive up the escarpment is breathtaking. Have fun :)

It is very easy to do as a day trip. Fly jetBlue. www.jetblue.com

No need to stay overnight. Niagara Falls NY is a very sad / economically depressed community. You will not find any great restaurants or charm there. The falls are beautiful and make for a great day trip but I recommend against staying overnight with the short amount of time you have.

The good thing about flying jetBlue is that you can take the subway or the Long Island Rail Road to Jamaica for the JFK AirTrain into the terminal at JFK. Considering it is a day trip and you won't have any luggage, there is absolutely no reason to spend the high cost of a taxi. JFK AirTrain is excellent. jetBlue has free in-flight DirecTV and complimentary snacks.

Delta is a perfectly good airline however on their LaGuardia - Buffalo route, it is most regional jets operated by their partners.

If the budget can stand it, check out the Falls Views hotels run by the Marriott & Sheraton.

The Canadian side is much nicer than the NY side, I suggest you cross the boarder.
