One Fine Stay-NY-Reviews/Experiences?

Considering booking through One Fine Stay. Has anyone used them? A little leery of whole balance required upfront. Although, they seem legit and you seem to have actual people to help you with problems.

The majority of vacation rentals in NYC are illegal if under 30 days. Some are scams. You need a hotel or apartment style hotel.

Ok...so I just asked "One Fine Stay" what makes their operation legal and was told it was due to the fact that the 14.75% city tax as well as the daily city fee would be tacked on to the daily rate. This doesn't seem to be referenced in any of the links provided. Just curious what your thoughts are....be kind, I am just trying to understand the lay of the land, not incite anyone.

Their collecting tax doesn't have anything to do with their violating the law that makes short term apartment rentals illegal.

....but they won't tell the OP that.

I hear you on the legality issues....I read some of the links. Why does the City of Ny accept the tax money (and obviously payroll taxes based on the folks they are employing, etc.) instead of enforcing the law? They clearly operate in broad daylight.

Just because they charge you the tax doesn't mean they send it on to the authorities. If illegal, it just means they get more money in their pockets.
