Where to park and take the train from CT or NY?

Hello! I am traveling to NYC from Boston for a conference on Thur and want to drive 1/2 way and take the train into the city. I would like to park my car overnight and take the train in a safe and convenient location as parking in the city is very expensive on Th and F.

Can you recommend any places? A train ticket from Boston is 140 round trip...yikes!

Thanks!

Metro North commuter fares tend to be much lower than Amtrak fares, particularly when compared to last minute Amtrak fares. Look into parking at the New Haven station and taking Metro North (rather than Amtrak) from there.

Btw, had you booked your Amtrak ticket 2 weeks in advance, the fare is $100 roundtrip from Boston on Amtrak.

But at this point, Auden's advice of using Metro North trains is good. Here's a Metro North map. Click on any station and it will tell you about parking there.

South Norwalk is a convenient station. Good parking garage and it's easy to drive to from the Merritt.

Just to point out, the south Norwalk train station is a busy commuter lot and the daily garage often is filled before mid morning. There is some overflow surface parking a few blocks away.
