Hi, sorry it's another "Best way to my hotel" question. Hoping somebody could advise the most cost-effective and hassle free way of getting from EWR to the Holiday Inn at 150 Delancey Street.
Two adults travelling. We land at Newark just after noon on the 28th March, depart for the UK at 7.30pm on 1st April. Will each have a medium suitcase and small carry on bag. Staying at the Holiday Inn Lower East Side (Other hotels in the same price range included the Carter and Pennsylvania. Needed a room with two beds so think I've done OK)
This is my third trip to NYC, first time not staying in Midtown. Have previously used taxis and a car service from JFK but this trip is on a slightly tighter budget so looking to save a little money where I can.
From looking at the forums, we're probably best getting the train from EWR to Penn Station. From there I can walk to Herald Square and get the subway to Essex Street. I'm just slightly concerned about carrying luggage on the subway. We're both in our 30's and fairly fit, but would stairs, crowded carriages and turnstiles cause any potential problems?
The alternative is to just cab it to from Penn Station to the hotel. Does anyone have a rough idea as to what the cost may be?
Having said all this, in the event of poor weather (snow or stormy) I'm prepared to throw money at the problem and just get a car directly from Newark. Or would the train still be my best option?
Any other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.
