Off off broadway play

Any recommendations for an off off broadway play 4/4/14? I've been looking at off broadway on broadwaybox.com for discounts. Would like to see Murder for 2 or Avenue Q, but trying to keep tickets under 40 dollars each. Close with these 2 options, but thought if anyone knew of a good off off broadway production we could check out maybe we would go that route.

Under $40 is tough but I'd be inclined to check the prospect theater's new production of "Jasper in Deadland" which is in previews and opens March 16. It looks very interesting www.prospecttheater.org

Use code PTIN to get a discount that will bring the ticket cost under 40

Stephanie, did you notice that 4/14/14 is a Monday? Many shows take Monday off, so it's not a good day to go cheap or dear for a play or musical. While it is risky to wait until the day of the show, I have found that it's easier to get a half-price ticket at the TKTS booths for Off-Broadway than Broadway. But you have to be willing to wait in the line. (See FAQ on discount tickets.) Avenue Q is regularly at TKTS, but that's not a guarantee, of course, and it does play on Mondays.

If that is your only free night, can you change something around? Show research can be done (among other places) at tdf.org, drop-down box at the top to "Off-Broadway 49-999".

Signature Theatre's (on Theatre Row 42nd Street) all tickets are $25 each. "KUNG FU" is there now and is extended, although I am not sure if it will be up on 4/4. Signature has 4 theatres so check out their other shows as well.

However, when Signature "extends" a show, the price increases. Unlike many theaters and museums, they fund-raise specifically to maintain $25 for the initial booking period of all shows. The donors don't make an unlimited commitment to pay the subsidy.

To find out what will be playing on that day go to: http://www.newyorkcitytheatre.com/ & click on the date on the calendar in the upper right hand cormer.

To find more options than Broadway Box, go to: tripadvisor.com/Travel-g60763-c1146/New-York… & go to the other sites. Not all discount sites have the same offers.

Another good one is Transport now playing at the Irish Rep www.irishrep.org

If you use code EMAIL (it might be EMAIL*) you'll get $25 off and that will put you at your price point

I saw this show and it's good. It's a musical though a serious one (ie, no happy love songs). It's about the transport if Irish debtors and criminals to Austrailia.

I recently saw the play "London Wall" at the Mint Theater Company and it was very good. They have a program called Cheaptix that offers a limited number of seats that you can purchase in advance for $27.50. as of now, those sears are available for April 4.

This is an older three-act play so it's different from the others you mentioned but it's so well done and the cast is excellent. Here are some reviews to give you an idea of the storyline:
