New York in a day

I will be in New York for one day. I have a 9/11 tribute center tour at 11:00 a.m. and then I want to be at the New York Public Library for the last tour at 2:00 p.m. Am I allowing enough time for the 9/11 tour. It is the main reason I am going so I want to make sure I have enough time.

Sure, i think 3 hours should be enough for 9/11 memorial.

When will you be there? After May 21 you can just turn up and walk around the Memorial (all open and free to the public) so a visit can take as little as half an hour. There will be no need to line up for security and show tickets etc.

There is a 9/11 Museum on the site that will open then too, that needs tickets though and can take several hours to go through I believe.

I've been to the memorial twice, and found the experience meaningful both times. In terms of visual design though, it's conceptually really similar to the Vietnam memorial. Even though I found it meaningful, and took my time, it didn't take me longer than 15-30 minutes to feel like I saw it. With the tour, you'll be done in less than 2 hours. Walk over to the 4/5/6 train, take it up 42nd (you can walk from Grand Central, or switch to the 7 train for one stop to get dropped off right under the library). You'll have time to make the tour. If you're here on a Friday or Saturday, you'll be able to go to the Met museum in evening since it'll be open late.

If your tour is through the 9/11 Tribute Center, they suggest that it will take 45 minutes to view their exhibits. You can view the exhibits before your 11:00 am tour because the Center opens at 10:00 am. The guided tour takes about 1 1/4 hours which leaves you plenty of time to get to the Library for 2:00 pm.
