What to do between philharmonic practice and opera

I am in NYC right now. On Thursday I am going to the Philharmonic practice which ends at about 1:00 and to the opera Arabella which starts at 7:30. I am mainly walking. What should I do in the area? Are there any fun inexpensive bars or restaurants (like pizza, ramen, etc) to try in that area?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Central Park is not far.

Columbus Circle is not far which has Whole Foods in the basement of the Time Warner Center. You also get a great view of Columbus Circle from the upper floors. There are shops in there as well.

You could also walk 15 mins down to Hell's Kitchen for ramen. Ippudo has excellent ramen, highly recommended.

I like the Central Park suggestion. There should be lots of happy hours from 4-6. Normally Ed's Chowder House is not a bargain, but they do have a happy hour Sun-Friday for selected drinks. Watch your food budget. Might be better to sneak half a sandwich into the Met Opera in your pocket for intermission.

There's a Century 21store (discount) nearby. The Museum of Art & Design is at Columbus Circle. The NY Historical Society is near the Natrural History museum..
