$26pp seems like good value, but how many of you are there and what kind of transportation has your travel agent arranged? Also, the time your flight arrives makes a difference in what transit options make sense. Generally, there are lots of taxis to take you into Manhattan for about $70 total. There is also the Airtrain monorail that connects to NJTransit railroad, which brings you to New York-Penn Station for about $15pp. You can then take a taxi or the subway to the Sheraton. The best plan for you will depend on the specifics of how many people are in the group, how many bags, and what time you arrive.

2. Re: transport

sounds like a shared van ride to me - AVOID

$26 each is not good value imo at all

the airtrain is currently out of service but there ARE replacement buses

Another alternative is a car service like dial7 or all state - I would prefer that to a NJ taxi

Taxi or car service would be easier and not so expensive considering there are 4 of you. The car services that LMV mentioned have arrangements where you can get a price quote and reserve with no prepayment, then phone once you are ready to leave the airport and they tell you where to meet your car. You don't have to pay for dedicated waiting time as they have a fleet of cars in the area.

Shared ride van airport shuttles are notoriously bad in NYC.

Hey Paul N:-) Although the air train is out of commish for a while, will hopefully be up and running in Jan;-) You can check www.njtransit.com/ The train itself takes approx. 25 traffic-free min to Penn Station NYC.. last stop as well so no getting lost at a cost of $12.50 p/p!

Since cabs at EWR are New Jersey based, their rates are tiered into the City.. depending on where you're going.. so if you opt for one, make sure to have a price before getting in and heading out;-) A car service like www.dial7.com/ www.carmellimo.com/ will offer you a flat rate as well to which you add tip and toll.. you're looking at approx. $75-80 all in;-) Best.. and EnJOY!
