JFK to The Roger + street shopping/street fairs

Good Morning! First, thank you in advance for the excellent help and suggestions you have provided so many times, I appreciate it very much!

I will be flying in to JFK with my daughters (13 and 10) and would like to take the A train into the city. Would you be so kind as to clarify my needed transfers? Would it make sense to exit at Grand Central and walk to the Roger or is there a better stop?

We love to visit street fairs and vendors- I have a list of the street fairs, we will browse Chinatown, but any suggestions for areas in Soho (or other downtown areas) where we might find inexpensive jewelry, bags (not really nock offs, just fun) clothing- handcrafted is a bonus but not required. We will be in town the middle of June.

Thanks, have a great day!!

You are actually better off taking the E train from the JFK Airtrain, not the A. Take an Airtrain to Jamaica Station, and transfer to a Manhattan-bound E. Transfer at Lexington Avenue to a downtown 6 train and exit in two stops at 33rd Street. The hotel is one block west on Madison Ave and two blocks south on 31st Street.

Oh and I forgot the street fairs! Many churches downtown have sidewalk markets in the warmer half of the year. Our Lady of Pompeii on Bleecker and Carmine does. As does St. Anthony's on Houston and Sullivan. So does Old St. Patrick's on Mott and Prince. Hester Street Fair is open on weekends at Hester and Essex, they also have excellent food vendors there. Plus there is a street fair somewhere in the city almost every weekend.
