Different ways to travel to Hamptons from NYC.

The Hamptons are always 100 miles or so east of New York City, but during the summer, the beach towns come alive. If you’re planning on heading out there for some fun in the sun, you have a few options on how to do so. Here’s a breakdown.

If you're looking into the Long Island Rail Road as an option, and traveling on a weekday, consider getting on the train at Hunterspoint Avenue in Long Island City. This is where several of the East End trains actually originate, so you'll get a choice of seats. The Hunterspoint Avenue LIRR station is adjacent to the Hunters Point Avenue station on the subway's 7 train.

I thought the Jitney was good. Comfortable seats, free wifi, snacks, newspapers and an easy pick up in Manhattan on Lexington.

Though you have to consider traffic which can affect arrival times in the Hamptons. Mine was half an hour late arriving.
