Travel from Ohio - good hotel to leave car for train to NYC

Need hotel (reasonable price) where we spend two nights and travel to NYC. Plan to drive Ohio to NJ, sleep one night, go to Embassy next day, travel back out of NYC, spend night at same hotel then drive back to Ohio. Any hotel recommendations where we could leave car and get train to NYC - thank you. Does not need to be Newark, just need cheap or low cost parking and easy commuter access to NYC

Why not just drive into the city and park your car in a garage for a day? The city is not that difficult to drive around in.

Just stay at the Candlewood Suites or the Courtyard by Marriott in Jersey City, NJ. The Courtyard is directly over the Pavonia/Newport Station of the PATH train (more in a moment about that), the Candlewood is somewhat less expensive, just as nice, and a 1/3 mile walk to the same station. And both are less expensive than anything in NYC, and there is no huge toll through one of the tunnel or bridges, and no aggravation driving to your hotel..

The PATH system is a small subway system that connects nearby New Jersey to where Macy's is in Manhattan. The Candelwood Suites has $10 parking, and both are easy to get to:

Take the NJ Turnpike to exit at Exit 14C (even if it seems out of the way, it's easier to just do that). There is an exit ramp (after you pay the toll) for Columbus Blvd. Take it east, then left on one-way Greene St.to the Candlewood Suite, a right a block later of 2nd St goes to the Courtyard hotel.

If you say which Embassy (are there embassies in NYC, or just Missions to the UN and Embassy remote offices?) you are going to, we can tell you how to get there exactly by train from 33rd and 6th (where the PATH train goes to for a mere $2.50 per person, using the same Metrocard you use for the subway and bus.

And did I say, the Candlewood Suites charges only $10 per night to park there; when I stayed there a year ago it was free, but people have said it has changed.

That $10 is less than the round-trip toll through the Holland Tunnel!

Read these Yelp comments to be 100% sure you will get your paperwork done correctly.

And think about maybe going to the one in Washington, DC. From Cincinnati, it might be closer, like in 64 to 81 to 66 to the Embassy on Wisconsin Avenue.

Also, if you take the PATH train in, just take the 34th Street Bus towards 12th Avenue (or the 34A bus to 8th Avenue and 42 St). Then you either walk up 12th from 34th to 42nd or along 42nd from 8th to 12th.

If you go to the Embassy in Washington, you just park at a meter or in a garage if it's really hard to find a meter.

Driving correction to aDC: it's 71 north to 70 east to 270 south to Wisconsin Avenue (or 495 to the GW Parkway) to the Embassy.

Well, apparently, NYC is only 1.5 hours further, and probably more fun to visit. (And I live North of DC!)
