Shuttle to Holiday Inn Express from JFK

Im really struggling to find the right answer to this but it appears from a little bit of google work that i need to catch the shuttle at Federal Circle which if im not wrong means i need to go on the airtrain from Terminal 1 (British Airways) to Federal Circle and it looks like it costs $7.50 per person.

Is this correct for anyone thats done it and if so, as there are 4 of us, would we be cheaper getting a taxi ? Will the taxi driver be peeved at picking up a fare not going into the City ?

Which Holiday Inn Express? (There are a number of them around the city.)

The only one where you might need to go to Federal Circle is the one right by the airport. ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/…hoteldetail They say have a shuttle bus, which most likely picks up at Federal Circle. (Confirm availability with the hotel.) This is NOT a convenient location if you are here for sightseeing.

Airport map here: www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-airport-map.html

Otherwise, it depends on which specific hotel you are going to.

A yellow cab driver is required by law to take you anywhere in the 5 boroughs of the city. However most cabs be found at the taxi dispatchers line at the terminal curbs.

JFK airport hotels all pick up at Federal Circle. You take the AirTrain there from your terminal, but there's no charge for this. You pay on the AirTrain only if you're taking it to Jamaica or Howard Beach where you would connect with the subway or Long Island Rail Road into Manhattan (or elsewhere.)

Just to answer. We are staying overnight at the JFK hi express as we fly onto Vegas the next morning. I'm just thinking how much hassle it is for 4 of us to drag cases on and off air train then in and out of bus.

It's good though it's free.

Will taxi driver go mental at such a short fare?

Taxi drivers are allowed to get what's called a "shortie"

The taxi drivers often queue up for up to an hour to get those $52. fares into Manhattan. They used to freak out when they got "short" trips so what the Port Authority came up with is they give them a "shortie" card or something so that if they pick up some fare within the airport or just outside the airport, they get a "shortie" so they can come back to the front of the line and not have to wait to get a more lucrative fare.

So, you don't have to worry about this.
