Park Central Hotel

Going to New York for 1st time. Park Central Hotel has been recommended to me. Have got a price of $2036 for 5 nights - Dec 3rd to 8th for deluxe queen room with 2 queen beds for myself, husband and daughter. Just wondering is this a nice hotel and a good price?

That's a good price for that hotel, especially if you've already included taxes and the facilities fee.

There's a TA discount for 35% off, but the total came to $2646 for a two queen room when I checked, so your price is better.

Have you already bought airfare? That,s a REALLY expensive time in hotels. If you avoid the first weekend in Dec. you will get much better value for money. If your dates are not changeable, the Park Central is well located and recently renovated. For those dates, it,s not a bad price. Do you have to prepay to get this price? There,s a 3* hotel in midtown east on Hotwire with 100% thumbs up rating for $323/night that will be the Best Western Hospitality. It will be a one bedroom suite so daughter will likely sleep on a sofabed in the living room, but price includes full breakfast.

Does that rate include tax? If so, it's an okay rate for an okay hotel in a great location, but that's only because the first week of Dec is one of the most expensive times for NYC hotels.

Have you booked air yet? If you could delay until later in Dec (but leave before the weekend before New Years), prices will be lower. Even just one week later will have better options. One week later than that will be much more affordable.

Why was it recommended to you? Does it have anything in particular that you want in a hotel? That's such an expensive time to visit...

That's a good price including taxes. Have you looked at the Best Western Hospitality? If you're going to prepay anyway, for about the same price on Hotwire you'd have a suite and breakfast. Have a look at

Oyster.com

for photos. I think both are there.
