Where to stay on the West side?

We want to go to the MONH and Carnegie Hall for a concert. Suggestions where to stay and under $400.00 per night?

Carnegie Hall is on 58 st. The Museum is on 81 st. So there are hotels near both. Near Carnegie Hall, you're "midtown" and within a short walk to a lot of tourist sights. Near the museum, it's more a residential area, quieter.

There aren't that many options near the museum, so that list is

the Excelsior- right across the street from the museum. Not fancy but fine.

the Lucerne is the nicest near the museum.

On the Ave would also be nice.

If you want to be near Carnegie Hall, the Blakely is a nice small attractive hotel not far. The Michelangelo is larger and more glamorous. Often under $400 but not always. The Essex House would also be nearby but getting mixed reviews lately. Please read reviews on all of these.

Public transport between the two locations is excellent, so stay at either.

The Salisbury - across the street from Carnegie Hall which is on 57th Street, not 58th.

I would stay near CH. It's nice to be close to "home" at the end of the night.

May want to check with Excelsior directly - they used to offer packages that included room and MONH. Go for a Suite if you can since it provides a nice sitting area - furnished very nicely. Other places mentioned near CH will be more expensive - cheaper to use cab/subway than the premium prices near CH
