Wedding Reception after wedding in Capitol building

My baby sister is getting married in the Capitol at 5pm on May 23rd. We are looking for a reasonably priced place to have a reception for about 75-80 people. We would like to be able to bring in our own caterer (who isn't from LR), so a kitchen would be a necessity. Baby sis also wants to be able to have a dance floor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

These are not glamorous spaces but moderate priced and you can bring your own food. Not certain of capacities.

Burns Park Community Room (may go under slightly different name) - very reasonable and hard to get a booking. Free parking. 501-791-8537

North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce - second level large room, free parking - 501-372-5959

Little Rock River Market - Third Floor meeting room - historic and interesting building in a restored neighborhood near Clinton Library - parking difficult. 501-375-2552

YWCA - Widely used for all kinds of events. 501-664-4268

More pricey and not certain of catering policy, but very pretty: Trapnall Hall 501-324-9716

When we were in Little Rock in October the women in the visitors center downtown were very helpful, one in particular did tours of the town, so they may be able to give you some suggestions, I would give them a call.

The Junior League of Little Rock building (the old Women's City Club) sounds like the perfect spot. They have a beautiful old ballroom and it isn't too far from the Capitol. Check out their web site at www.jllr.org

There is no doubt that the Jr League is a beautiful venue but the last time I worked with them, they required you to use one of a list of approved caterers. Their rental fee was fairly high, but considering the beauty of the ballroom, it is probably worth it. It is possible that they may negotiate approval for a licensed caterer from an out of town location.

The Junior League Building is a beautiful structure both outside and inside. The drawback to it are the awful acoustics in the ballroom.

The next level events is in the old train station, about 3-4 blocks from the capitol. It's pretty nice upstairs and really big downstairs. don't know if they'd let you use your caterer, they have their own, but doesn't hurt to ask.
