Downtown Dayton

I have to be in Downtown next week on business. No car. I need suggestions on where to stay that will have restaurants within walking distance and have a nice hotel.

Crowne Plaza is probably your best bet as it is the closest to the Oregon District which has a variety of both restaurants and bars (some serve food). Doubetree would be another option but it would be farther away from the majority of restaurants that I can think of although there are a few close to there as well.

Most of the posts say the Crowne Plaza is not very nice. What do you think?

Last time I was there was for a friend's wedding a few years ago. I thought it was fine but was only in the room for a short time for a pre-reception bridal party reception. It doesn't look the greatest from the outside but inside is better, in my opinion.

But, you really only have 2 options in what I would consider Downtown Dayton and Doubletree is only rated 1 spot ahead of Crowne Plaza. Never been in there though so can't comment too much.

But based on your question of having restaurants in walking distance, Crowne offers a better location, in my opinion.

Tha majority of the newer/nicer hotels you are going to find in the suburbs and will thus need a car to get anywhere.

I agree, if you don't have a car the Crowne is your only option. It's in a great location and within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants. I've never stayed in a room but the lounges and public areas are very nice and you can't beat the location.

You could look for a bed and breakfast in the Oregon District as well.
