I just read the link you provided. FYI, the governor has already stated he will not sign the budget as it stands. He is expected to veto it. I wish they would get their act together here!!

I do believe that once a budget is set, table games will come to PA and sink AC for good. AC is not offering enough to entice folks to come. The Sands is going full steam ahead. Of course, it will level out, and the offers will not be as they are now. Here is an update:

I could never go to a so called casino that does not have tables. They need tables to compete, sitting there pulling machine levers does not a casino make.

VegasSue:

I was enticed to return to The Borgata. I booked next week (2 nights). They promised to replenish

the comp dollars I lost because they expired.

Say what you (and I) say about AC...but they are working to

keep at least SOME players ... they KNOW I go elsewhere . . .they seemed(on the phone, anyway) to be as gracious as anything to me. . .

Will report to TA (AC Forum....ouch!!) next week.

To the Poster from Bethpage:

Yes!, it's not a Casino without table games . .

but the PaSands is a newbie that was born and grew

up in very dire economic times. True, the Lehigh

Valley is pleased as punch to have this business

in their backyard..(I assume)...and if and when Table games are OK'd. . .they'll give AC a real run for their (quite diminshed) money . . .

The SANDS has the potential to be a big star

AND a big moneymaker. ALL that is necc.

is for the (dopey) politicians to get off their butts

and pass this thing.....

Doesn't that seem like the RIGHT thing to do?

Bethlehem is going to need some serious infrastructure if we get table games...the traffic is already bad enough in town. I commute through town a few evenings a week for class, and since the casino has opened, it's added 10 minutes to my drive.

I don't see the Sands hurting in any way without the table games. Well, unless you go in the early mornings, but then AC's tables are pretty empty in the mornings, too.

Table games bring in a different type of crowd - not bad, just different. Without a hotel, shows, shopping and entertainment, I'm not so sure table games will actually have the draw that AC does.

I'm curious - just WHAT needs to be done in Bethlehem to help alleviate what you are experiencing? more lanes? better timed lights?

Aren't people coming to town and spending money

in the local stores and business' because of the SANDS?

They need a better ramp off of I-78 onto 412, the major route to the casino. It was bad enough before the casino...now it's even worse. They probably need to add at least a lane in both directions on 412. And, yes, the light timing is off for getting large crowds out. They did widen most of 412 past the casino, which does help, but they've done little to nothing on the road before it reaches the casino. I assume that they are planning to add a lane - they blasted the tiny railroad bridge that was the main preventer of a widening about 6 weeks before the casino opened.

Hopefully with table games & improved infrastructure, we'll get some more business on the route from the I-78 ramp to the casino. All that's there now is dumpy houses & emptiness.

For the most part the answer is a resounding NO.

People are not coming to spend money locally because there is really next to nothing around the Sands to instigate or promote such spending.

The Sands is wisely positioned where only they are currently benefiting from the spending because there is nothing else conveniently close.
