Mammoth Mountain for Xmas Dinner

We are a family of 4 from Australia with two teenage boys aged 13 and 16 years. We will be spending 4 days in Mammoth (22-26th) over Xmas this year and would love some recommendations for where to go for lunch on Xmas Day. Is it a big deal in Mammoth or are most people just up and out onto the slopes on Xmas Day?

As this will be our first ever white christmas (hopefully!!) we would like somewhere with plenty of christmassy atmosphere. We are staying in the village near the gondola and will have a hire car.

Thank you! Lisa

Most people ski on Christmas, it's dinner that is celebrated (or Christmas Eve). I would recommend going to the restaurant in the Westin for dinner, or perhaps Nevado's - but book well in advance.

The Whitebark at The Westin is very nice. Our favorite meal in Mammoth was at The Tamarack Lodge. The shuttle at the Westin took us there for dinner. It is a very cozy dining room with excellent food. It was snowing during our meal which made our time there extra special. Make a reservation here! :)

Hi Narelle,

Nice to know there will be some other Aussies in the neighborhood!

I always use VRBO.com for our accommodation. The site is very easy to use and we have always had great apartments and very helpful owners. We have rented a two bedroom condo in the actual Village area, just near the gondola. If you go onto VRBO.com and put the number 382702 in the search box you will find it. I think this owner has a couple of properties so might be good to contact her.

Hope we get a white Xmas! Lisa
