More than mashed potatoes?

On our drive across country, the side trip to Devil's Tower is at least an hour and a half out of the way. Are we just going to get out of the car and say, "Yeppir, that looks like what Richard Dreyfus was making in the mashed potatoes," and drive away, or is there more to see? I realize different people are moved by different things, but if time is limited, is this really worth the drive?

I agree re: the Cody museums and I'd give Yellowstone a third day.
