Army/navy game Dec 9th hotel ideas

We got invited to the game. Never been to Philly before so don't know area. Of course our friends booked hotel months ago downtown, but for us everything Downtown is either sold out or super expensive.

Any suggestions on other areas to stay which are convenient for Uber to airport, downtown, or getting to the game. Trying to think outside the box a little. We will be there Thursday night to Sunday.

TIA!!!

You didn't give your price range, but the Airport Marriott is $219 on Thursday, changing to $279 on Friday. Getting an Uber/Lyft will be easy and it's close to the game (15 minutes). Getting to Center City on other days, by Regional Rail is also easy.

Center City would be my first choice, but in a pinch, this would work.

Non-surge Uber/Lyft will be around $16 each way. The subway from Center City and back, will be two tokens for $4. Regional Rail from the Airport to Center City on the other days will be $6.75 each way. So, take all of that into account.

Center City is very compact and walkable.

Definitely try Priceline Express Deals. As of now for your dates, you can get a 4-star hotel in Rittenhouse Square-Center City West for $209/nt (rated 7+/10) and 4-star in Center City East-Convention Center for $187/nt (8+/10) plus taxes/fees. Both areas would be preferred over the airport. You would minimize commuting time since you would be centrally located for restaurants and tourist sites.

^grab one of those deals ASAP. I'd go for Center City East because you are closer to the subway and The Reading Terminal Market. But, really either is fine.

Not sure if you booked yet. Center City East 4-star hotel is now $157/nt. This is a steal. Would book ASAP!

Look on www.Hotels.com many good deals under $200 and you quickly earn free nights booking through them. If you are near center city it is very easy to take the subway along the Broad Street line you travel south to the last station and will arrive at the sports stadiums complex and have a much faster trip than an Uber or Lyft just because of all the traffic.

Check out http://septa.org/ so you will feel comfortable with maps and stations and fares. If you might be doing a lot of travel on non-game days look at their Pass Options too.

This probably doesn't need to be said but you'll want to lock in any restaurant reservations as early as possible too. https://www.opentable.com/start/home can be a great resource for you.

Have a great trip that game is a wonderful day. Even with the protests and controversies these days being in the stands when they National Anthem is played and you're about to watch a game played by those who would put their lives on the line you is a feeling you'll never forget!

Thank you, Globewalker! This will be our first navy/army game and your post just brought up so much pride of those who serve. I am not a political person typically, but I agree this game will be an honor to attend and I am so grateful to our friends who invited us. Can't wait! Thank you for your suggestions!
