Day trip to Philly

We're considering a run into Philly while on a trip to PA. Probably around Memorial Day and coming in from the Harrisburg area. Is there a good route to come in to see Independance Hall, etc. Trying to avoid traffic and all so may make it a weekend trek. Thanks

It's easy. You take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to the Valley Forge exit. Follow Route 76 East (Schuylkill Expressway)about 20 miles to Route 676 East (Vine Street Expressway). Go about a mile. Exit at 6th/Street/Ben Franklin Bridge. Stay to the center/right and go down 6th Street about 3 or 4 blocks. You're here. Bring quarters. Lots of 'em. Should be our city slogan.

Traffic, well, once you exit the turnpike, there's no guarantees. Weekends are better than weekdays. The Friday before Memorial Day will be a nightmare- don't try it. Saturday should be clear sailing.

Thanks for the directions. I know a day trip is hectic and there is so much to do. My thought is to keep it simple around the Independance Hall area. Any good local restaurants for families in the vicinity.

Jones is kind of a fun & neat place. Their speciality is comfort food ~ Can get all of the favorites. It is a S. Starr resturant, so of course the decor is unique. www.jones-restaurant.com
