Sansom Street Oyster House Closed

Sansom St. Oyster House apparently closed its doors in June, due to bankruptcy of the owner Cary Neff. Rumor has it that David Mink, the original owner of the restaurant, plans to reopen it.

Sansom Street Oyster House was on our list when we visited in 2004 as my husband especially likes oysters whenever we vacation on the coast, and we were entirely pleased with all aspects of our meal and the restaurant then. Not so when we returned in April 2008. The food was somewhat mediocre, and the service so poor that we didn't expect ever to return.

The Sansom Street Oyster House is re-opening and is sure to succeed as they will have the talents of local celebrity mixologist Katie Loeb. This should be a must-try for locals and tourists alike.
