Getting to Temple University

We are staying at the Radisson in the Rittenhouse Square district. Our son has orientation on Monday morning with an arrival time between 7:45 and 8:30.

What is the best way for us to get him to Temple Univeristy...take our car out of parking or use public transportation.

If you tell us to use public transportation, can you please provide us with specific directions.

Thanks for all your help.

I would take the subway.

Your hotel is at the corner of 17th and Locust streets. To get to the subway, walk down Locust Street to Broad Street (which is 14th). Turn left on Broad Street and walk toward Walnut Street. At the corner of Broad and Walnut, there is an entrance to the Walnut-Locust subway station for the Broad Street line. Take the Broad Street line north to Cecil B. Moore Avenue, which is on Temple's campus. Make sure you take a LOCAL train, not an express train. The express trains do not stop at Cecil B. Moore.

The subway fare is $2 per person, or you can buy tokens for $1.55 each.

I would take the subway. You may as well use it, as your son will be using it while he is here. Think of it as part of the orientation. It's about a 10 minute ride, plus waiting time. There is an entrance at Broad & Locust, as well as Walnut Street. You could even walk down the steps at the PATCO line on Locust Street, and follow the concourse underground to the Broad Street subway. It's not particularly pleasant down there, so unless it's raining, stay above ground.
