exton to airport

I need to get from west chester to the airport in Philly. I am assuming the best way is to cab to the train station in exton? Not sure what to do from there. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like a hassle. Call Rainbow Cab and see what's their best offer. When you add everything up, in the end it maybe worh using them to the airport.

When you get to Exton, take the train to 30th Street Station. There, you transfer to the Airport line. You will probably need to change platforms, as the airport trains usually leave on track 6, and you will probably arrive on track 1 or 2. Go down the steps, and look for the markers for track 5 and 6. Tracks 5 and 6 are actually next to 1 and 2, NOT 3 and 4.

The Exton trains run about once an hour, except more frequently during rush hour.. The airport trains run twice an hour.

These are listed as possibilities on the phl.org site (phl.org/passengerinfo/transportationservices…):

WEST CHESTER, PA

Delaware Express , (302) 454-7800 or (800) 648-5466

Pennywise Sedan Service, (866) 255-7686

Tropiano, (800)-559-2040

Delaware Express has been around for at least 30 years; we've used them over the years and mostly been satisfied. If you can afford it, it's way better than taxi to train to SEPTA to airport. (Whew! Just typing that leaves me exhausted!)

To go with the others, by the time you deal with local cab and two trains with connections, any savings will be eaten up by other hassles. A shuttle service is by far your best bet.

Just to add a little bit of info to factor.

By using public transportation/commuter train, you would indeed catch SEPTA's Regional Rail lines: the Paoli/Thorndale Line inbound from Exton to 30th St Station. Then at 30th St Station, switch onto the Airport Line outbound to Philadelphia International Airport. The train rides together would total somewhere between 90 minutes and two hours (the ride from Exton Station to 30th St Station is approx 55 min, and the ride from 30th St to the Airport is approx 20 min). The Airport Line stops directly in t airport at four different terminal stops.

The cost would be $10. For travel essentially from Exton to Philadelphia International Airport, you will need to purchase what is called a “Via Center City Ticket”, which costs $10.00 (paid cash on board to the conductor). Leaving Exton, starting on the inbound Paoli/Thorndale Line train, when you purchase the ticket from the conductor, tell them your destination is the airport. They will sell you the Via Center City Ticket. When you get off at 30th Street Station, and switch onto Regional Rail line called the Airport Line; be sure to take the ticket with you when you switch trains.

Please note that while the Paoli/Thorndale services Exton about every hour throughout the day; it services Malvern Station (the next closest station) nearly every half hour. There would be no change in cost or considerable travel time difference (although you would have better scheduling options)coming from Malvern Station.

Just to be helpful. Look at www.rainbowcab.com or www.delexpress.com maybe these two can help you. There is no need to go by train. West Chester is west of Philadelphia and so is the Airport. It is a waste of time to use public transportation to go to the Philadelphia Airport. I don't endorse any company but for $48.00 a Rainbow van will pick you up at several hotel locations in West Chester and take you directly to the Airport. Delaware Express, I'm not familiar with, but I'm sure they're great.
