Where To Go After Phillies Game?

I'll be going to the Phillies game Saturday night and staying at the Holiday Inn Stadium nearby. Is there anyplace fun that is walking distance from the stadium/hotel after the game?

There is the Mcfadden's at the stadium that is a pretty cool place to hang out after the game. Then if you want to stay within walking distance, the only good place that I know of is Chickie's and Pete's on 15th and packer. Great sports bar. Nothing too fancy, but it is a fun place to hang out.

Chuckdiv pretty much summed it up. At one point, it appeared that Citizens Park as well as the Eagles' Lincoln Field were going to be built in one of several proposed areas near downtown. However, civic and political opposition resulted in both being built in the same South Philly neighborhood where the venerable Veterans' Stadium once stood... and where residents somewhat understandably are opposed to any development that would bring more traffic to their blocks.

All of that said, there are many more options just a subway ride away on the Broad Street Orange Line. 2nd St between Market and Chestnut in Old City has the most concentrated number of trendy bars and lounges. If you're looking for something with more of a casual "Cheers" type atmosphere, perhaps you could try McGillin's Old Ale House. ( www.mcgillins.com ) It's just a couple blocks from the Walnut-Locust stop. Then again, if you plan on imbibing too heartily to ride back home on the subway, you'd probably be better off sticking with McFadden's or Chickie and Pete's.

I'd choose Chickie's and Pete's. Great Philly vibe and atty-tude, as the saying goes. If you get hungry, they have great sandwiches as well. Have fun!
