Trip from NY

I'm going on a road trip with my parents (I'm 18) to Baltimore, Maryland. I am planning on visiting Philadelphia on the way (and might stay for 1 night).

1. Where's a good place for cheese steaks that serve other food as well (my mom doesn't eat beef.... EVER) and preferably near the reading terminal market?

2. What else should I go see besides the Liberty bell, the Eastern State Penitentiary, Chemical Heritage Foundation, and Franklin Institute? (I'm not much of a history buff and prefer sports and interactive fun/sightseeing)

3. What hotel? (Preferably 4-5 stars, but not too expensive)

Thanks!!!

There are a few cheesesteak stands in Reading Terminal Market, though none of them stands out as a great place for a cheesesteak.

I would recommend instead you head to Ishkabibble's on South Street because they also offer chicken cheese steaks (no beef) ,.. You could do that after your visit to the LIberty Bell. You could then take an interesting walk along South St. and visit the Philadelphia Magic Gardens.

You might find the Franklin Institue a little kid-focused (that said, we enjoy it and have no kids, but mainly focus on the special exhibits).

Take a look at the mutter museum perhaps as well as our things to Do FAQ.

What is your hotel budget? "Too expensive" is somewhat relative.

I would definitely stay for at least one night. There is a lot to see and do here in Philly in addition to historical sites.
