Three Day Weekend With Concert

Will be arriving Friday in late November for at Wells Fargo Center. Saturday and Sunday will be spent touring around the city. I have been many times for buisness, but never to see the touristy stuff and husband has never been. We would need a cab for the concert Friday night and then would like to be well located to attractions. We will have a car. Love food - all kinds - so upscale dinners and maybe Farmer's market or cheesesteak places too. Like museums and history, but would also love to hear live music Saturday night (blues, country, rock, etc.).

Any suggestions on where to stay, great places to eat and any of the ordinary suggestions welcom (know we will see Liberty Bell, and at least one museum).

If you stay in Center City, you can easily take the Broad St. Subway (orange line) to/from the stadium for the concert. It's cheap and safe. No need to pay high taxi fares. You also don't need a car once in Center City to see the main tourist attractions.

check the FAQ favorite restaurants at the top right of the page for some restaurant recommendations.

Also check the short list of "Must Sees" which includes Reading Terminal Market. tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i21731-Philadel…

Hopefully the govt shutdown will be over by then, as currently the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and some other attractions run by the National Park Service are shut down.

It sounds like you would like Reading Terminal Market. You can shop and have breakfast or lunch there one day. Note that some vendors aren't there on Sunday.

For dinner choices I would suggest looking at Vernick Food & Drink, Serpicos, Noord, Indeblue, Sbraga, Il Pittore, Talulah's Garden and Fond.

As for attractions, be sure to check out the Dream Garden mural in the Curtis building near Independence Hall. Also you might like Eastern State Penitentiary (if the weather's not brutal), Pa Academy of Fine Arts, Mutter Museum or the Barnes.

You do not need (or want) a car in Center City. A car is an added headache and unnecessary expense.
