Visiting Gettysburg, PA in early May (May 3rd to the 9th)

How is the weather during the early part of May? Should I be concerned about tornadoes?

Warm and Cold. sometimes rainy but could be sunny.

A healthy concern for tornadoes is appropriate but not in Gettysburg.

Hello LV,

Always hard to predict, but daytime likely in the upper 60's to low 70's and nighttime average of 50. Not a lot of tornadic activity in the area as a rule, mostly warnings in the hot summer months with the severe storms that pass through the area. We've already had some record highs for this time of year, so anything is possible :)

Planning to dress in layers is probably the best advice, as the weather at that time of year can vary greatly during the day. Mornings and evenings can be cool but the afternoons can be quiet warm. Also bring along some rain gear as it's hard to predict whether or not we'll be in a rainy period.
