Walking Battlefields in Gettysburg

Hi -

If it's a hot day while I'm in Gettysburg, is it safe to wear shorts while walking across some of the battlefields (due to bugs) or is it better to wear long pants?

Thank you for your advice!

shorts are fine. (depends on your legs?) Maybe bring insect spray if you are worried -but you needn't be.

Thanks for the tip about bug spray! I'll be sure that I pack it. Just wasn' sure about the fields since it's been decades since I've been to Gettysburg.

I'm always wary of getting poison, so if I know I'm going to be traipsing around through the fields and not staying around the areas that are mowed, I wear long pants. Most of the main points of interest are maintained and not full of weeds and high grass, but if you're going to be roaming through the fields, especially where Pickett's Charge took place, you'll encounter some long grass and whatnot.
