Hotwire hotel in Midtown....

I see an excellent rate on Hotwire for a hotel in

Midtown. It has a 2.5 star rating. I wanted to know

if anyone could tell me what hotel that might be?

It lists Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn & Suites

and AmeriSuites. Any of these would be fine, although I realize it could be another hotel. If

you have had a hotel with this rating through

Hotwire, please tell what you think.

try a website called "betterbidding.com". Posted are hotels won on both Hotwire and Priceline. You can sometimes figure out the name of the hotel by comparing the amenities listed for the hotel you are considering against those that have been purchased.

Hope this helps...

denyb,

Thanks for the suggestion but no luck there. I couldn't find any Savannah hotels listed. Someone

out there in TA land must have gotten a hotel through

Hotwire for midtown Savannah! I just want to have an

idea of what to expect for 2.5 stars.

Thanks!

"Midtown" is very vague, there is an older Holiday Inn and a couple old "motor hotel" kind of places, no crack dens or hooker hangouts or anything though that I can think of. That is about as encouraging as I can be with such little info.

I really can't think of any motel/hotel in the Mid town area that would be objectionable. This is not a run down dangerous area. There are a few bare-bones-nothing-fancy places, and it's most likely one of those.

Sorry, I can't help you on the ratings system. I tend to take those with a grain of salt anyway.

There is a fairfield inn and a best western in that area. Unless you are getting an insanely cheap price I would not rec'd to staying in midtown. It may look really close to the Historic District but you will spend half of your trip driving back and forth. It takes a good half hour depending on traffic and then you have to worry about parking, which can be an absolute nightmare! Check out some of the B&B's, a lot of the time they will have special deals on their website.

Continued thanks to you all with this strange question. I found a 2.5 Star in Midtown for $42.

This seems really cheap to me, that's why I was

wondering where others had stayed that was Hotwire

rated 2.5 star. However, they also had a 2 star

which was somewhat higher in price. It can be

confusing and I realize one takes a chance. In the

past, we have had great luck with Hotwire staying

at Doubletree, Crown Plaza, etc.

If anyone else has stayed in Midtown with a 2.5 star

rating, please let me hear from you.

I have about decided to stay at Extended Stay

Midtown for price and location. I have never stayed

at an Extended Stay but our son has and he has always

been pleased with his room. This seems to be one

of the closest midtown hotels to the Historic District.

I extend much thanks to all who responed and gave

their advise, suggestions...

Please let us know how it worked out for you. It's sometimes difficult for us locals to know how a hotel/motel is as we, naturally, have never stayed in any here. All we know is where they are located, what they look like from the outside and what visitors tell us.

Aileen,

Yes, I'll be sure to do a trip report. I can see

how hard it is to find a mid-priced hotel in

Savannah in a good location. If I could just win

the lottery!

Thanks again for your help.

Hi, I hope everything works out for you.

Saw that you didnt find any hotels for Savannah on betterbidding.com, but I was on that site last week and found them so I did a little digging for you (the site is not so easily navigated).

Here's the link www.betterbidding.com/index.php…
