Is this hotel/location OK?

I can get a great deal on the Courtyard Savannah Midtown located at 6703 Abercorn Street (i.e. $39/night!). Just want to make sure this area is OK. We will have a car. Is it easy to drive into the historic area and find parking?

Midtown is fine.

Drive down Abercorn into the historic district.

Buy a parking pass.

If you can, stop by the Visitor's Center and buy a parking pass as onemoreroad said. It's a much better deal than just paying by the hour. You can buy a 48 hour pass for $12 and it's good at any of the public parking garages. If you're there over a weekend, there is some street parking that's free but depending on what's going on, there may not be many spaces available. It's easier to park in one of the garages such as Whitaker Street Garage under City Market and walk around all day. I know $39 is a great rate but it's always possible to find good deals inside the historic district and then never have to move your car unless you want to.

Abercorn is a huge, wide , busy multi lane shopping strip road that starts out nice in the Historic District but becomes a huge road outside the HD. Nothing wrong with it as long as you understand that you are buying a place (safe!) to sleep before you head into the HD where all the fun is. There are many parking spots and a few decent garages right in the HD and you just follow Abercorn straight up into the heart of the HD. You should be fine.
