Northern Lights tours

Does any resort/hotel offer tour packages which include a snowcat ride to view the northern lights other than Chena Hot Springs Resort?

You can stay at any hotel and just rent a car to get away from the city lights so you can see the Northern Lights better.

Actually even in the city you can see the lights they kind of dominate the skys over head. But you can just rent a car and drive out of town. Although out of town is not that far since Fairbanks is not like huge.

Thank you for the replies. We have not read good things regarding the Chena Hot Springs Resort; does anyone have any opinions on the Bettles Lodge? Or can you recommend a hotel?

Bettles Lodge is a fly-in lodge in the middle of nowhere - a dramatically different experience than a hotel nera Fairbanks! In Fairbanks I really like the Bear Lodge (the new part of the Wedgewood Resort), but there are several excellent ones. A lot of the choice comes down to price - that is, excellent = $$$

Might I recommend a B&B? You will find the hosts of a B&B a world of local knowledge.

I decided against places like the Chena Hot Springs. They seemed to nickle and dime guests too much (there was a cost for everything). Instead, I flew to Bettles, Alaska where there are NO city lights (since Bettles is a very small village). I would recommend staying at the Spirit Lights Lodge. It's a one-of-a-kind place to stay and much more reasonably priced that the Bettles Lodge.

I would suggest that you stay at Dale and Jo View Suites. My wife and I stayed there for a few days last winter and saw some awesome northern lights. Jo, would do what she calls a "Northern lights wake up" when they would be out. This B & B is one of the best kept secrets of Interior Alaska.
