Transport to where? How many people are you? What's your budget per night? What kind of atmosphere are you looking for?

Anywhere downtown, Park Slope or Williamsburg is pretty close to Manhattan. What is your budget?

In terms of safety, you want to stay away from East New York and Bed-Stuy.

There is a bed and breakfast on Westminster Road in Kensington. It's an old Victorian house a couple of blocks from the subway. Look that up. Also, there are some hotels in Sunset Park (like on 20 St, and around 38 St, both near 4th Avenue) which is both residential and industrial, but safe.

I would stay in Park Slope or Bay Ridge. Both have trains into the city and alot of restaurants, shopping and bars. I would not want to stay in sunset park.

Don't stay in Bay Ridge - it's as expensive as Park Slope but too far from the city and almost no nightlife. Sunset Park is murky at night, avoid it.

Park Slope or Williamsburg is is your best bet - or downtown Brooklyn/Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill. Kensington is not bad, but not great.

Williamsburg is the coolest and youngest part of Brooklyn. It has clubs, restaurants and bars

Brooklyn Heights to Boerum Hill is more mature part with restaurants and sites but no music except for Barbes in Park Slope

Do not stay in Bay Ridge, it has restaurants but it is way too far away and you may as well be in New Jersy

There is a Marriott Hotel downtown Brooklyn. You have alot of restaurants in Brooklyn Heights. The Hotel is right near all trains and the Brooklyn Bridge.
