Nervous - going later than usual

We are booked Nov 4 - Nov 8 this year. First year going away from Timber Tops (we love it - I am aware of the reviews here). One of those situations where there is a lot going on in a short amount of time so we went back and forth on whether or not to go. Staying with sugar maple cabins . Nervous that all the pretty views will be done with first week in Nov and it will be too cold. Obviously not too nervous not to go but hopefully our money will be well spent. We typically go first week of October so not sure what to expect this time of the year. Same crowds? Heavy jacket weather? All the leaves gone on the mountains? Any color left in the valley?

Its really hard to guess what the weather will be. Normally, the weather is still preety good. In my 8 seasons of living here, I've found that the best colors have been in early November at the lower elevations. This year may be different as we're seeing changes daily and the frequent rains could shorten the season. Crowds typically drop off considerably on weekdays begining Nov. 1. Weekends remain busy. Regardless, the colors will be better and crowds should be no worse than you've experienced the first week of October.

We usually go around the first of November but this year we will be there the last week of October. Last year we still saw plenty of color, although it did vary in different elevations. It wasn't very crowded but the gift show was going on. We still managed to eat at our favorite restaurants with no problem. We just got there early. We enjoyed the weather, although a little crisp. Bring your jackets! You're still going to have a wonderful time!

Since there has been plenty of rain this year, the first week of Nov should still be very beautiful. I love going that week. Even the last 2 years there were still many beautiful places.

You will need your winter coat in high places most likely. but not always.

Take layers of clothes so you can take some off when walking.

It may be a little crowded due to the kickoff of Winterfest that week but I can't imagine it would any more crowded than in October. Enjoy the Christmas lights - they are beautiful.

The problem with the fall foliage this year is that, while there's been plenty of rain, too much of it has dampened the colors so far.

There needs to be days of bright sunlight and crisp, cool nights with low humidity, none of which has really occurred yet. It's raining and cloudy again all this week too.
