My Trip Report + Tons of Photos & Videos.Enjoy :)

We left early Monday morning Nov.1st and spent the night at my sister's house on the way and woke up on Tuesday and headed to Cherokee,NC we got there around 3:00

and checked into Harrah's Casino. We had a nice room on the 5th floor that faced the mountains and some of the city.We went down and played in the casino for a little

while then had dinner at The Fresh Market Square Buffet it was ok food but nothing special. After dinner we played some more in the casino and then went back to our room

and watched some tv and got in the hottub then went to bed.On Wednesday we went to Hardee's and got some breakfast there since we dont have one where we live and it was

pretty good for fast food.We drove on The Blue Ridge Parkway about 30 miles and then turned around and went back to Cherokee and went to some of the shops in town.We had

dinner at Paul's in Cherokee and it was pretty good food and prices. Then we headed back to Harrahs to turn in for the night. On Thursday morning we ate breakfast at The

Fresh Market Square Buffet and the breakfast was better than the dinner there. We decided to drive over to Clingmans Dome to hike up to the tower but it was closed. We

wanted to drive into Gatlinburg to have dinner there but while we were at Newfound Gap and it started snowing pretty hard so we decided to head back to Cherokee

and have dinner there. On the way back we stopped at Tribal Grounds coffee and got some coffee and sat out back by the river and I bought some coffee to bring home.

It was pretty good coffee We ate at The Stockyard Steakhouse you can order off the menu or have the buffet so we decided to eat the buffet it had steak and seafood on it and alot of

other foods. It was pretty good for the price but dont know if I would eat there again. After dinner we drove around Cherokee and headed back to the casino and played some

more then went to bed.On Friday morning we woke up early and called the National Park Service number and we found out that 441 that go's from Cherokee to Gatlinburg was

closed due to ice and snow so we checked out of Harrahs and drove thru Maggie Valley and it was like a winter wonderland there was snow everywhere then we made it to interstate

40 and then took Foothills Parkway into Gatlinburg. The drive was beautiful with all the fall colors. We then stopped at Coffee and Company to pick up some of my favorite coffee's

and then we checked around at some different hotels and we decided to stay at Riverside Motor Lodge Friday and Saturday night Nov.5 & 6.It is a older hotel but it was

fine for a couple of nights. It's in a great location right in the middle of the strip in Gatlinburg. We stayed in room 209 which had 2 double beds and a couch and sitting area

and had a double balcony that faced the city and mountains. After we checked in we decided to drive to Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and it was just beautiful with all the

pretty fall colors and SNOW everywhere. We took a ton of photos and video's it was a winter wonderland. After that we went to Best Italian to have some late lunch and then

we walked up and down the parkway and shopped. Then we drove up Ski Mountain Road to look at the cabin we rented for Christmas and

it was pretty nice with great views of the city.mountains and the tram.We then went back down to Gatlinburg and sat in the rocking chairs and people watched for a while

then we went to Food City to pick up a few things and low and behold I ran into a friend I went to school with that was also in town for a few days then we went over to

Fannie Farkles and got us a Smoked Sausage with onions and peppers it was pretty good street food.We went back to the hotel and sat out on the balcony for a while it was

pretty cold but not bad then we headed to bed. On Saturday morning we ate breakfast at Flapjacks in Gatlinburg on E. Parkway it was our first time eating there and it

was pretty good.We normally eat at The Pancake Pantry but wanted to try something different and the line to get in The Pancake Pantry was pretty long. After breakfast

we headed to Sugarland's vistors Center and went on Fighting Creek Nature Trail and it led to Cataract Falls it was a very pretty waterfall. As we made our way back to

Sugarland's it started to snow again and then we headed up to Cades Cove and it snowed a few times on the way up.We saw a couple of Bear's too.Once we got to Cades Cove

it was beautiful with all the snow capped mountains around it.We saw a few more Bears and around 15 Deer thru out the loop. While we were at Cades Cove they were making

Sorgham Molasses using a Mule to turn the grinder. We went in the Vistors center there and bought some Corn Meal to make homemade cornbread for home. After Cades Cove we

stopped at the camp ground store and got a couple of hotdogs to munch on then headed back to Gatlinburg. We decided to go thru Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail again and

the 2nd time was even prettier because there was more snow that fell the night before. We took so many pictures and I made a great Christmas Video while driving thru there.

We then went into Pigeon Forge.I had to call Caroyln from Discover the Smokies to find out where Waldens Landing was so I could go to the Smoky Mountain Popcorn Factory.

I bought some bacon and cheddar flavored popcorn. It was good. (Thank You Caroyln and it was great talking to you). Then we walked around there and looked in a few shops.

We had tickets to see Larry The Cable Guy but we ending up selling them to a couple we met that was headed to Cherokee. We didnt want to drive back thru the snow and ice

to go back to Cherokee. They were pretty excited and it made there day.We then went back to Gatlinburg to have dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Howards Steakhouse

we both had Steakburger and fries and cheese sticks and it was very good as always. After dinner we walked up and down the strip one last time and went to The Old Smoky Moonshine

Distillery and had a few samples but we didnt buy any Moonshine. It was interesting but a little to harsh for our taste. We stopped and picked up some candy from the Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen

for the kids.We headed back to the hotel and went to bed.On Sunday we got up and got our things ready and checked out.We stopped at Krispy Kreme Donuts the Hot light was on

and they were really great donuts and then we stopped at Bojangles and got a couple of chicken biscuits for on the way home. We had a really great trip and it was nice seeing

the snow but we really wanted to go up to Clingmans Dome but thats ok we will be back next year and do that. This was my 3rd trip to Gatlinburg this year and every trip gets better

and better and I cant wait to come back at Christmas with my husband again and our children and my mother and father in law.We are going to have a great Christmas in The Smokies.

The leaves were beautiful while we were there and it was so pretty seeing the Fall colors with snow on them.Roaring Fork was the best ive ever seen it with all the colors and snow.

We have around 6 more weeks till we will be back there again and it will be my 4th trip this year.I think next year I am going to try and go about every 2-3 months.

I hope you enjoyed my trip report.

I took over 1300 pictures and 33 video's of our trip. The videos are at the end.Enjoy :)

Thanks for the TR cherokeegurl. Just a few ???. I'll be coming from the Atlanta area in Feb. and driving thru Nantahala and Cherokee. I'm thinking about stopping at Harrahs. Are the slots as tight as everyone says they are, and do they have blackjack? Also I am trying to decide between the Bearskin or the Riverside. Does the Riverside have wifi? I also would like a mic. and a refridge. I can't wait to get back to Gatlinburg. I've seen snow there 3 out of the last 5 years. So pretty!!!! Thanks.

They do have blackjack. I would never play it. It is done by a machine and not human dealers. I think the Indians have it rigged to their advantage. I lost 50.00 in 5 minutes and left.

Sounds (and looks) like you had a great time! AND you got your wish to see snow in the Smokies (BIG TIME)! Looked about like it snowed every day.

Where is the Smoky Mountain Distillery on Parkway? I've never heard of that. It must be pretty new.

Your pictures from Roaring Fork were especially wonderful. I don't believe I've ever been to Roaring Fork when it was snowing or even when there was snow on the ground. What a treat!

Thanks for sharing!

beargrass72 The slots at Harrahs are pretty good but a little tight right now but while we were there a lady did hit a $ 32,000 Jackpot playing a slot machine.I did hit a progressive slot machine in April and then hit big on another one the same night. Then in June I came back to Harrahs and the slots were pretty tight and they were this time too. They do have Blackjack tables with dealers but they use interactive video technology. As far as hotels Riverside is an older hotel and I dont know if they have wifi I didnt bring my laptop with me and they dont have mic in the rooms but do have a mini fridge. I would stay at Bearskin.I think it would be much better and newer.

Glad you had just a good time, Cherokee. I enjoyed reading about your trip. I had planned to eat at Pancake Pantry next week but we'll probably try to find some cheaper places to eat than we had first planned. Is Flapjacks cheaper than Pancake Pantry? I had considered Log Cabin Pancake House too. Which do you prefer?

beargrass72....Riverside does not have wifi or at least I didn't have it in my room when I stayed one night in Sept. Other than the location, I would definitely choose Bearskin over Riverside. It has to be a better hotel. ;) Cherokeegurl's room looked a lot better than mine so there's no way of knowing what room you'd get. I had a mini fridge, too but no microwave. I posted a review for Riverside.

beargrass72 If you do go with Riverside ask for rooms 209,211,311,313,315,317 all of those face the city and mountains.
