Walker sisters question for original writings

We have found some poems signed by Louisa Walker. One is written in her childhood years, the other the adult years. Who can authenticate something like that? I know they wrote a lot of poems and sold them over the years. The poems were in the middle of some books that were given to us and many date back to the early 1900's, some local books and then some world known books. Thanks for any help. I don't know who to go to.

How interesting! Is there a local historical society? That might be a good place to start. I know there has been much written about the Walkers, maybe you could research and contact an author to see if they have any way of helping you identify the signatures.

Let us know what you find out!!

A lady that spent summers with the Walker sisters as a child gives lectures at the old school house/ church that is located at the trailhead to the Walker sisters place (at least she did at this time last year). She is very knowledgable about the area and the Walker sisters. I believe it is one day a week except during winter. When the park reopens you can check with them.

Here's a link for the facebook page of The Smoky Mountain Historical Society. You could also check with the TN Dept. of Archives and History. Many counties have a dept. of archives also.

The lady mentioned in post #2 who lived with the Walker sisters is named Robin Goddard. She will be giving lectures at the Greenbrier schoolhouse through Nov. 2nd if you are in the area before then (now that the park is back open).

If you can't catch her at the school, you may be able to ask someone at the Association how to get in touch with her. She'll also be at the Wilderness Wildlife week in P.F. at the LeConte center in January.
