Chances for snow.

I know impossible to know for sure but since it is close I thought I would ask. I am bringing 2 nephews and a niece to Gatlinburg next weekend Feb 1 from Fl to see snow for the first time. They are all teens. I know it has been cold this week and I saw snow last year in March. Will there be snow on the ground up on the Mountains where they can walk and maybe make a snowball??

There might be snow up around New Found Gap area. I know its been cold there and they have been getting snow on and off this year(in the past 24 days). There is snow up at Ober Gatlinburg, but I don't know if you can play in it. They may charge a fee and a parking fee. You could also go snow tubing there. If the weather is bad then the rangers will close 441 which goes from Gatlinburg to Cherokee,NC. You might want to check the weather before you go.

We are booked for Feb.9th to the 15th. I would love to see snow in the mountains , but we get our fair share in KY.

Keep the NPS website handy. It will let you know if the roads are closed. There is also a couple of webcams for the park.http://www.nature.nps.gov/air/webcams/parks/grsmpkcam/grsmpkcam.cfm

We should get a pretty good ideal what the weather will be like in a couple weeks.

Good Luck finding the snow. It's cold/wet and interesting.
