overnight spot in Greensboro, NC or Danville, VA stretch

Hello,

I"m traveling in a couple weeks through NC north to Buckingham, VA.

I am looking for a nice little spot to stay the night, where I can get up in the morning and go for a run and have a cup of coffee in the morning, before I"m back on the road.

Would you please let me know if you have any recommendations?

I appreciate your advice.

Warmest,

Tea

Where are you going to be the night before?

I can suggest The Ivy in Warrenton NC (not to be confused with Warrenton Va). But would be off your path if you're coming directly from Atlanta along 85. While the Ivy is on 85 it is shifted east a bit. Let us know.

Holiday In Express in Reidsville might be something you could consider; though I would not pay more than $65/night.

Check reviews, then call direct, ask the Manager for their "Specials"....

Also, he or she could let you know where you can go for your morning jog...

Sorry, I have never been too impressed with Danville;

In G-boro: The Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast is nice.... you can go for your morning run around the university or drive to Country Park (jogging trails)

Not sure what your budget is, but The Colonial Inn should be around $40/night (Reidsville)

or even less..

Too late to edit. After I wrote about Danville (not impressed with...), my hubby reminded me of a great Bakery/Coffee Shop. He called it Kathy & Hall's Place, so I am not sure if this is the correct website.

If it is the right place, they had the most amazing yeasty donuts filled with Raspberry Jam - but I am sure you would need another run.....many sweet calories.....You could Email or call them....

Yes, 85 does veer off and do it's own thing:)

See how these fit for you:

Greensboro:

A great place on a lake close to the Rt. 40 hwy at the south of Greensboro: http://www.thetwinlakeslodge.com/ Sort of a break, a time apart...and yet close to the highway for hopping back on.

And this place just south of where the 73 (W) and 85 (e) belt joins 85.

http://www.thegroomeinn.com/index.html Same easy location.

For Danville, we haven't driven through since they put in the expressway around the city and do feel bad for the shops we used to stop at and enjoy. ..like Hall's. There is a Sleep Inn just a little bit east of the expressway on 58/360 that friends have stayed at and said it was fine.
