Alleppey/Cochin

Would appreciate some impartial advice please.

I have 7 days to split between staying in Alleppey and Cochin. Had originall planned 4 nights In Alleppey and last three nights, before flying home early morning, in Cochin.

Having some second thoughts now. I am thinking I should spend more time in Cochin-- say 4 nights. What do you think.

We will , hopefully, travel to Alleppey from Kollam on the tourist boat that leaves about 10.30am arriving at 6.30pm-ish. Staying at Homestay close to boat jetty in Alleppey.

In Cochin will stay at Homestay on Princess Street in Fort.

Any thooughts on this please.

Hi London,

in Alleppey you can split your days with the locations as follows. Kumarakam backwater village ,Marari beach and some local village tour like cycling near by Alleppey.

In Cochin you split your days

one day - sightseeing in Cochin.

one day - Kodanadu elephant cage and Athirappilly waterfalls.

one day - Kumabalagy tourism village.

Hi,

Thanks but we dont like to be tooooo planned. Just like to chill and see how the day unfolds. When you get older that sort of life seems very appropriate!

Hi,

Just spend one night in a House boat Alleppey to Kumarakom.

One night in Cherai Beach, enjoy beach campfire & food.

One night in Fort Cochin. enjoy sea foods

and one night in Ernakiam, and proceed to next destination.

Hello!

If you have no plans of changing/adding destinations to your existing plan, then I would suggest 4 nights in Alleppey and 3 in Kochi. Simply because Kochi is more like a metro, if you dont prefer heavy traffic and noise pollution better spend more time in Alleppey.

I would really suggest you to cut one day each from Kochi, Alleppey and include Athirapally in your itenerary, if you like being close to nature. Have a look at http://www.rainforest.in.

Wishing you a memorable trip!

Thomas
