Can you recommend the best hike about 5 miles roundtrip in or around Hot Springs NP? Thanks!

Here's a list of the trails around the park. You can pick and choose what sounds most interesting to you. nps.gov/hosp/…hiking-trails-list.htm Can't give you a personal recommendation for hiking on trails there, since we usually go to Hot Springs to hike around Garvan Woodland Gardens.

You can get some good excercise on the HSNP trails. They are very hilly. You can take off from the park across from the Arlington and climb up to the tower, down to Gulpha Gorge and up around the back of the Arlingon. You should realize that Hot Springs National Park is really an urban park. Except for the area near Gulpha Gorge and a few other spots, you are in the middle of a small town, passing views of rooftops, backs of houses, hotels and bath houses. It is visually interesting and historic, but not an isolated nature experience. Lake Catherine State Park has a couple of 3-4 mile trails which are pretty nice also.
