Hotel's for Badger Hockey game

A group of us St. Cloud State University, MN alum’s are planning a road trip from Minneapolis, MN to see SCSU vs. Wisconsin the 1st weekend in February and we are looking for mid range ($120) hotel rooms. We would like to be close to bars/entertainment area and hopefully find a shuttle to and from the game.

Any recommendations for hotel and bars would be great!!

How many of you will there be?

If your group is large enough, the sales office at any hotel downtown should be willing to hold rooms for you under $120, as long as you reserve your block NOW. It's easier to get rooms in the winter in Madison, but there MAY be a conference or University event going on the same weekend, which will cut into the available hotel rooms.

I always start with the Concourse, because it's right off of State Street, where the restaurants and shopping are, but the DoubleTree is the closest to the Kohl Center. The Edgewater is also great. All have sheltered parking and the Concourse and Edgewater have shuttles, in case you don't want to walk to and from the game.

Both of the Best Westerns, the Inn on the Park and the Inntowner, have shuttles, too, and have recently been redone.

Good luck, and come back with any other questions as you get closer to your visit.

Doubletree Hotel is the closest hotel to the Kohl Center, and great walking distance to the bars/ restaurants. With free parking, you can't beat it! Contact Amy at 608-251-5511 for group rates.

Thanks for all of the info. It is only going to be 4 or 5 of us, so just a small group. Just going to drive in Saturday, go to the game, hit a few bars after the game and leave Sunday so we don't really need a room with lot's of amenities.

I will check out the suggestions.

I would also check the Hyatt Place on Washington. The rooms are bigger, we had 2 queen beds and an L shaped couch someone else could sleep on. Also has a fridge in the room. A bit further, but still walkable to the Kohl Center and close to State St.

Thanks for the tip on the Hyatt Place. I booked 2 rooms there for 5 of us, no need to get a roll away with the couch. The price was good, plus a free breakfast as well!!
